Arnold FriemanArnold Freiman

As the founder and visionary behind Sophus Health™, Arnold Freiman's extensive education, combined with his background as an educator, financial planner, and entrepreneur have all prepared him to see new possibilities in the integration of health insurance and wellness products. He has a graduate degree from the University of Massachusetts where he designed "Integral Medicine for the Whole Self," the first holistic healing educational curriculum at a major university.

His studies in natural healing led him to become intrigued with Chinese Medicine; Dr. Freiman went on to earn a degree in acupuncture and later founded the first licensed school of acupuncture in the United States. Freiman moved west to pursue a divinity degree from the Graduate Theological Union and has also served as a hospital chaplain.

In 1986, after recovering from a personal health crisis, Arnie founded Partners Financial, an insurance brokerage firm noted for designing creative models of health coverage and employee benefit plans, often for clients with special needs. In the late-1990's, Arnie expanded the focus of his firm to include preventive education and broader support for individuals taking responsibility for their lifestyle and health choices. This comprehensive approach to wellness integrates the five elements: Physical, Financial, Spiritual, Self, and Relationships.


Arnie's vision was to build Sophus Health™ to meet the rapidly expanding demand for alternatives to managed care and gatekeeper medicine—a demand being expressed by healthcare providers, insurance brokers, employers, and the general public. At the core of this vision is his continued effort as chairman and chief strategy officer of Sophus Health™ to help the most people gain balance and integrate all aspects of well-being into their daily lives.




Kelly W. GrebinskyKelly W. Grebinsky, FSA, MAAA, FCA

Partner, Senior Consulting Actuary


As a Principal and Senior Consulting Actuary, Kelly Grebinsky utilizes his 20-plus years of experience to lead strategic client discussions and guide the development of health and welfare benefit programs. His current and former clients include Fortune 100 employers, Taft-Hartley trusts, multiple-employer trusts and insurance carriers. His expertise covers strategic health program planning, complex pricing for active and retiree populations, development and measurement of wellness and care management programs, health benefit financial reporting, and data warehouse development and analysis.


Prior to Actuaries Northwest, Kelly spent six years with SHPS in their Strategic Healthcare consulting division as a Senior Consultant, with responsibilities including client management, strategic benefit program development, benefit plan pricing and risk management, claim cost analytic tool development, and care management program measurement and reporting.


Prior to SHPS, Kelly performed chief actuarial duties in pricing and financial analysis with Kaiser Permanente in California from 1996 to 1999. Responsibilities encompassed large group, small group, and individual plan pricing and financial performance, as well as Medicare HMO and other government programs.


Before Kaiser Permanente, Kelly performed pricing, underwriting and financial reporting responsibilities at North American Life Assurance Company and The Cooperator’s Life Insurance Company in Canada from 1989 – 1996.


Kelly graduated cum laude from the University of Manitoba, majoring in Business and Actuarial Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.



Meghan SaundersMeghan Saunders, B.S., NTP

Account Manager


As Sophus Health’s account manager, Meghan serves as the primary business contact for the client and is responsible for resolving client questions and concerns, developing client reports and member communications, interfacing with vendor partners and supporting new business development.


Meghan is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology. The vision of Human Ecology is to advance and improve the human experience by combining education, research and community outreach in the areas of nutrition and health, human development, wellness and public policy – making her background and interests in alignment with the Sophus Health mission. During Meghan’s undergraduate years she developed a keen interest and passion for the complexities of human nutrition. After studying holistic nutrition and the human body for nearly 20 years, Meghan took her education a step further and became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Her work and experiences have taught her compassion and understanding of people as individuals which makes her an asset in the role of interfacing with our clients and ensuring their satisfaction.




Tricia J McMahonTricia J. McMahon, D.Min.

Wellness Coach

Tricia comes to her position as a Wellness Coach with a passion for wellness and a wealth of experience in program planning and community outreach. Undergraduate studies in Public Health and doctorate in Creation Spirituality underscore her depth of commitment and insight for the care and empowerment of others. For fifteen years Tricia was co-founder and Executive Director of HERS Breast Cancer Foundation in California offering individual consults as well as community programs for the well-being of women and their families. "HERS, and its premier program Bras for Body & Soul, was a way for me to help women care for the beauty and blessing of their bodies, their lives, especially when faced with difficult circumstances."

Most recently Tricia was Program Coordinator of Wellspring Heart--a certified program teaching participants Dr. Dean Ornish's protocol for reversing heart disease, as well as enhancing their overall health. To now be on the Sophus Health team is, as she says, "a joy and an honor. I am excited to be part of transforming healthcare, and therefore self care, for all".




Nate L. EslavaNate L. Eslava

Associate Actuarial Consultant


Nate is an Associate Actuarial Consultant in the Issaquah office of Actuaries Northwest.  His primary responsibilities include translating vendor data for financial and performance analyses, financial reporting, assistance in the development of pricing and projection models, preparing and reviewing retiree health valuations, and preparing Medicare Part D attestation reports.


In his fourth year as part of the Actuaries Northwest team, Nate continues to develop his skills as an Actuarial Candidate, passing five professional exams on the path to Associate accreditation.


Prior to joining Actuaries Northwest, Nate worked briefly as a Land Surveying Technician while studying for the Actuarial Exams, and also spent some time in Japan teaching English.


Nate is a graduate of the University of Washington, with a major in linguistics and a minor in physics.  He has successfully completed five actuarial exams. 




Michael L. Elliston

Michael L. Elliston

Associate Actuarial Consultant


Michael is an Associate Actuarial Consultant in the Issaquah office of Actuaries Northwest. His primary responsibilities include health benefits pricing, financial reporting, analysis of financial performance and development of projection models and tools.


Prior to joining Actuaries Northwest, Michael spent three years with Towers Watson in their Defined Benefit Retirement division. Working as an Actuarial Analyst, Michael's responsibilities included developing financial liability reports, budgets and investment risk portfolios as well as pension benefits pricing and analytical tool development.


Before Towers Watson, Michael performed pricing, underwriting and financial reporting responsibilities at Mercer Consulting in New York from 2006 - 2007. Responsibilities encompassed large group, small group, and individual plan pricing and financial performance, as well as HMO pricing renewal negotiations.


Michael graduated from Western Washington University, majoring in Applied Mathematics. He also received a graduate certificate in Financial Engineering from Columbia University. He is in the process of earning an ASA with the Society of Actuaries.




Jennifer L. CollinsJennifer L. Collins, GBA, CMS

Health Consultant


Jennifer is a Health Consultant located in Columbus, Ohio. Her primary responsibilities include assisting employers in the areas of plan renewals, financial analysis, pricing and funding arrangements, and retiree health valuations.


Prior to joining Elements, Jennifer was a Director of Client Consulting in SHPS’ Strategic Healthcare consulting division. She has more than 12 years of experience in benefits consulting with a background in plan renewal and analysis, employee eligibility, vendor procurement and relationship management, rate negotiations, cafeteria plan design and compliance, new carrier implementation and open enrollment analysis.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Washington with a Business concentration in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. She is a member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists and has achieved specific designations under both Group Benefits Associate (GBA) and Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) programs.
